CVWD joins Twitter and expands community outreach efforts

Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) is getting more social by adding Twitter to its many community education efforts.

“Twitter will provide us with an additional tool to share important water-related information with CVWD customers and other stakeholders in the community,” said CVWD General Manager Jim Barrett.

CVWD joined Facebook in 2014 and has a YouTube channel that features water related news and information, videos, event information and much more. Emergency alerts are also posted on these sites such as pipe breaks and road closures. Likewise, a new CVWD mobile app is now available to report water waste, pay bills, view job opportunities and more. CVWD’s website is also a good source for more comprehensive information on a variety of topics.

In addition, CVWD offers 14 email notification lists for anyone wanting updated information about specific topics. Sign up to receive e-notifications when new job openings are posted, to view agendas for upcoming Board of Directors meeting or to receive emergency notifications, among other topics.

CVWD customers and other stakeholders are encouraged to follow CVWD on social media or through signing up for email notifications at www.cvwd.org. Look for the “Stay Connected” icon.

The Coachella Valley Water District is a public agency governed by a five-member board of directors. The district provides domestic and irrigation water, agricultural drainage, wastewater treatment and reclamation services, regional storm water protection, groundwater management and water conservation. It serves approximately 109,000 residential and business customers across 1,000 square miles, located primarily in Riverside County, but also in portions of Imperial and San Diego counties.
