Environmental Documents

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires that a public agency consider, as part of the decision-making process, the environmental effects of discretionary projects that it undertakes, funds, or authorizes and to avoid or mitigate those impacts, if feasible. A "discretionary project" is a project requiring judgment or deliberation when the public agency decides to approve or disapprove a particular activity. CEQA also requires disclosure of potential significant environmental effects of discretionary projects to the public, through the preparation of an Initial Study (IS) and/or an Environmental Impact Report (EIR). In certain cases, a project must also meet federal requirements pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). A partial listing of CVWD’s environmental documents is provided below.
