District Compliance
In an effort to comply with the essence of this Order, the District will continue to:
CVWD's Sewer System Management Plan
Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) has developed a Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) pursuant to the State Water Resources Control Board Order No. 2006-0003, Statewide General Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) for Sanitary Sewer Systems. The primary goal of the SSMP is to minimize frequency and severity of Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs). The SSMP will cover the management, planning, design, and operation and maintenance of the District's sanitary sewer system. The development process began early in 2007.
Public comments are welcome on any portion of the SSMP. If you wish to comment on a section still under development, please be sure to do so by the listed comment date. If you would like to comment on the SSMP, please use the comment submittal form.
Effective September 2, 2007, the District began reporting all SSO's electronically to the California Integrated Water Quality System (CIWQS). The electronic SSO data, as well as information regarding regulatory actions, has been made available at WDR's website.
In an effort to comply with the essence of this Order, the District will continue to:
- Manage the systems it operates in a way that reduces SSOs
- Fund, manage, operate, and maintain all parts of the sewage collection system for which they are responsible
- Construct and maintain the collection system using trained staff (and/or contractors)
- Comply with this Order. Failures to fully comply could bring about State Water Resources Control Board action, regardless of whether or not an SSO has occurred
