Tools for Teachers

Classroom Presentations & Activities
Classroom presentations (PDF) and hands-on water activities (PDF) are available to all schools and all grades, kindergarten through college, throughout the Coachella Valley Water District service area. Presentations address California Content Standards and generally focus on canal safety and water conservation but can be tailored to address a specific area of water-related study. Presentations can often be paired with an activity to enhance the overall learning experience.

For presentations, all we require is a place to set up our equipment, power, and a wall or screen to project onto. We will supply all the materials needed for any activity. We also go to after-school and summer programs. If you are interested in a presentation or activity download and submit the signup form (PDF).

Field Trips
Field trips to district facilities are available to groups of students and can be tailored to address specific topics. Among our most popular destinations are the Wastewater Reclamation Plant in Palm Desert, the control room and demonstration garden in Coachella, and replenishment facilities in La Quinta and at the Whitewater Spreading Area. The District does not provide transportation for field trips. To arrange for a field trip for your class, contact us.

Project WET Workshop
CVWD teachers will organize and conduct Project WET workshops (PDF) to groups of 10 or more educators wanting to learn about how to bring water education into their classrooms while meeting California Content Standards.
The Water Wheel
The Water Wheel is published by Coachella Valley Water District to develop responsible water users for tomorrow.
